Hi
Have a Sea Trooper with 40 hp Evinrude, not tilt and trim. Back problems, so
need tilt and trim. Would like to fit a 70 or 75 hp - would this heavier
motor be a problem? Boat is rated 60 hp, but I can't see the extra 10 making
much difference.
Any sensible comments would be appreciated.

Extra weight and 10-15 extra HP?

You're risking burying her tail or, possibly worse, building a wave big
enough to swamp her as she comes off the plane.

Safest course is to contact the boatbuilder. Ask why she was rated at 60.

Cheerio,

the boat should have a built in safety margin for power output, but if it's
say's maximum 60
then 60 is the maximum, it's your life! do you really want to dunk your boat
while your still in
it and a mile offshore??
Up to you!
